LiLien Tong

Welcome to my landing page 🙂

My name is LiLien (pronounced “Lee Len”). It’s a little tricky to get just right, but that’s okay. Eventually, I get to know who you are by the unique way you say my name. ????

The next question is almost always, “Where does your name come from?” I’m half Chinese, half Dutch, and LiLien was the name of my Chinese grandmother. Naturally, this is followed by a curious look because I don’t exactly look Chinese. Then comes one of two responses: “You don’t look Chinese at all!” or “I can totally see it!” Which… you can’t. ????

A little more about me…

I’m married to an amazing man who is pretty much the perfect human for my imperfect self. Together, we have three incredible daughters, each of whom seems to embody a different part of my soul. They humble me, challenge me, and teach me something new every single day.

We also have the cutest, most neurotic little pup named Poppy and far too many chickens to count. Life is rarely boring around here!

I’ve spent most of my life feeling like I don’t entirely belong to any one place, culture, or community. Let me explain…

I’m not quite Chinese enough to be Chinese, or Dutch enough to be Dutch. I grew up on a small island near Victoria, BC, but now call Alberta home. I’m a little too West Coast to be fully Albertan, but a little too Albertan to be a true Islander.

And then there’s my work. I’m an obstetrics nurse in the hospital setting, and I also support midwives at home births. To some, I’m a little too medical; to others, a little too hippy.

And honestly? I’m okay with that.

I’ve come to appreciate that I don’t have to fit neatly into one box. I get to embrace all the different parts of myself, live authentically, and keep people on their toes along the way. ????

A woman of many hats (and, apparently, many jobs).

I have a reputation for taking on too many jobs because, well… I do.

I’ve been a registered nurse for over two decades, and nursing continues to be one of the most challenging, humbling, and rewarding careers I could imagine. I work across hospitals in Calgary and Canmore, as well as supporting families outside the hospital setting, because variety really is the spice of life.

I’m also the founder of Elevare Perinatal, my private registered nursing business dedicated to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. People invite me into one of the most vulnerable and transformative experiences of their lives, trusting me to walk alongside them with clinical expertise, a calm and grounding presence, and genuine care for their individual journey. It’s a role I feel incredibly privileged to have.

And because apparently, I still have room on my plate, I’m also an independent distributor with Young Living. I’ve been an essential oil enthusiast for over a decade, fascinated by the world of plants and their traditional uses and potential wellness benefits. Who knew there was so much to learn from nature?

When I’m not working…

Let’s be honest, work is never really done. But when I can step away from all the hats I wear, my favourite place to be is with my family.

I love travelling, riding horses, escaping into the mountains, and finding those moments when the world feels a little quieter. I love a beautiful view, but if you can combine a good hike with a view of the water? That’s my happy place. That’s when my soul feels most at home.

Maybe that’s the common thread running through all the different parts of my life: I’m always looking for connection, whether it’s with people, nature, or the places that make me feel most like myself.

Thanks for stopping by!

I’m glad you’re here. Have a look around, get to know a little more about me and what I do, and please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

I’d love to connect. ❤️
